Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In Urethra Along With Blood In Urine?
I was about to urinate and was holding my penis to stop the urine from coming out of my urethra. While I was holding it I sneezed. I then experienced sharp pain in my urethra lasting about 10 minutes. I urinated blood a few hours later. I then urinated again several hours later and there was a very small amount of blood. I then urinated several times throught the next day without blood but still some minor pain. What are your thoughts? Should I be worried?
Dear User, The abdomen is pressurized, and leads to the urinary bladder and the urethra of the penis. Thus when you sneeze the pressure is transmitted from the lungs to the diaphragm to the abdomen. This pressure wave caused a small trauma to the urethra. You're OK. This is normal. No issues. Thanks. Dr. Neel Kudchadkar.
