What Causes Severe Pain In Vaginal Area During Periods?

Hi I had a three year Iud put in two months ago. I had one period the first month and now this month being near my period time I'm cramping extremely bad sharp pain in my vagina area. Today's the second day and I'm having back pain (lower) and just started having pinkish discharge. I'm in a lot of pain. I was put on an antibiotic for infection in my pelvic area. I ended that a few days ago.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to pelvic inflammatory disease. Ultrasound examination should be done to rule out this and swab should be taken for culture from vagina and uterus to rule out the causative agent of infection and sensitivity to antibiotics. As you ended your antibiotic you should approach your gynecologist for follow up now. If the antibiotic didn't respond to infection a sensitive antibiotic should be started also. Pain can be controlled by NSAIDs and antispastic agents like dicyclomine.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
