What Causes Severe Pain On Crossing My Ankles?

A Doctor hit a nerve in my foot when trying to take some blood, It was a shooting pain running up to my toe, enough to make me withdraw my foot in a reflex. A week later I am now getting shooting pains if I cross my ankles and frequently wake up at night with a burning sensation like a hot poker in the heel of the foot. Should I be worried?
