What Causes Severe Pain On Lower Left Quadrant Of The Body?

I am a 54 year old female, do not smoke occasionally drink wine. I have a pain on my left lower side it a pain that is there and every so many minutes or so it gets to where it is uncomfortable I have to hold on to something or take a deep breath. It does not last long. I was walking each day and have been going to therapy on my right knee and wait my weight has shifted more so to the left side. My husband thinks it a pull muscle or maybe a hernia.

Hi

Pain over the left lower quadrant can be seen with a groin muscle pull. Usually, the muscle pain would reduce once there is more movement and the pain reduces with walking.

Along with this, there are a few more things that can help. These include following the RICE regimen
Rest the area and avoid exercise or excessive walking
Ice the area for 15 mins
Compress or gently massage the area to help with the pain
Elevate the leg by placing 3 pillows below the leg to reduce the swelling

A hernia would present with a swelling over the leg. This swelling would be over the inguinal region. In case there is a swelling over the area, seeing a doctor and getting an ultrasound done to get to the cause can help.

The ultrasound would determine the type of hernia and the best treatment for it. Most hernias would require surgery to treat.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
