What Causes Severe Pain On The Left Side Of The Face?

i have excrutiating pain left side of face. starts in temple radiates down through jaw and into upper and lower teeth on left side. very sharp pain. have taken clindamycin now for a week, assuming it was either gum related, tooth related, or sinus infection. no change at all. dentist ruled out teeth issue, although i suffer from gum infections. went to an ent today, did not think it sinus related or ear infection. the pain carries down under the jaw as well, left side.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe pain on the left side of the face which seems to be due to facial nerve infection leading to its inflammation.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral physician once and get complete examination done and start treatment after thorough examination. You should do mouth stretching exercises as well. You should consult neurologist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like diabetic neuropathy and trigeminal neuropathy.

Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant or anti inflammatory medications along with physical therapy.
