What Causes Severe Pain On The Right Side Of The Head?

yesterday I started having sharp pain on the right top side of my head. The pain stops and then recurs - sometimes an hour apart, sometimes 2 hours - but this is the 2nd day and it still comes and goes. I seldom have headaches of any kind, and never have had migraines but don t really know what a migraine might feel like. No other symptoms - appetite good - but I am 84 so I tire easily - nothing new there. Had a heart attack in Aug 2010 and had a stent inserted. Otherwise overall health is good. What could be causing these recurring sharp pains in the same location on my head? Thanks.

Hi,

The symptoms of headache are severe pulsating pain, aggravated by movement and associated with photo phobia. The pain occurs on only half of the region of head. Your headache does not look like migraine type. You need to get your blood pressure check daily for three/four days, sometimes elevated blood pressure is cause of such headaches too.

Second important thing which cause transient ischemia and precipitates usually in same manner as you do are Anemia. So, also get a routine Hb done to for any Anemia. You can take Tylenol tab twice daily to reduce the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
