What Causes Severe Pain Under Right Arm Radiating Towards Shoulder And Neck?

I am having strong pain under my left arm ( probably bicep area and also radiates to under my shoulder blade to my neck . My left neck is visably swollen and my left upper back is swollen. I had rotator cuff surgery in February of 2014. I have injured the area and will again have the surgery soon. They will be repairing the cuff as well as a ripped tendon or two. I know that you cannot tell me for sure without seeing my MRI but why would I have a swollen or bulging neck and back under the shoulder blade. I hope I am explaining this correctly to you. Thanks you , Martha Burchett

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain under left arm radiating under shoulder blade and neck is most probably due to involvement of musculoskeletal system.
A history of rotator cuff injury and surgery is supports musculoskeletal origin of the symptoms.
Post-operative analgesic and physiotherapy are required to relive the pain.
Musculoskeletal pain takes long time to recover and required long time physiotherapy.
I suggest you to consult your treating orthopedician and physiotherapist.

Thanks and take care
