Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just tonight I have felt a squeezing pain under my right rib cage....It doesn't feel muscular but deeper. Also, as a side note.. in the recent past, I have been having a heaviness/pressure/squeezing in my chest and sensation sometimes that I am unable to catch my breath. I do have Barrett's esophagus -- so all of these symptoms seem confusing. GI, heart, Gallbladder or liver?? What should be my first steps to seek help?
Hello Barrett's esophagus is on another side and this pain is on the right side, under the rib cage ( deep according to query ) . This type of sudden pain just for one day may be due to these reasons . 1 Consolidation or pneumonia , diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest . 2 THICKENED pleura is another most common cause of such pain . Diagnosis can be confirmed by MRI. 3 Since you didn't mention other symptoms so this may be a postural pain in inter costal space . However , there are so many other reasons of such pain as pleural effusion etc . First of all take a potent pain killer as tylenol . Once pain relieved and if recurs consult a physician and get his opinion.
