What Causes Severe Pressure On Ankle That Causes Difficulty In Walking?

Every now and then my ankle gives way (inside below bone), I then cannot put any weight on it or walk. After about 5 minutes everything is fine. I had an x-ray a while ago and I have a bony spur but my Doctor said everything else is ok. I have not knowingly gone over on my ankle but it is very scary when I`m out and about when I cannot take another step. Any idea what it is please?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The pain is typical of the heel spur. It can be treated by regular walking exercise / physiotherapy / using special shoes or shoe inserts and pain medicines as per need. Some patients need surgical treatment. Consult a foot surgeon (podologist) for specific Advise.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
