What Causes Severe Sinusitis Upon Increasing The Dosage Of Levothyroxine?

I am a 74 year old woman. I have been taking 25 mcg of levothyroxine for many years. Recently my new doctor increased dose to 50 mcg because my TSH level has been slightly above normal, i.e 4.84 and 4.91 (blood tests taken in morning with fasting). Since increasing the dose my sinusitis seems much worse. It never bothered me much before but is really bothering me now. Could it be from increasing the dose of levothyroxine? Thanks.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Levothyroxine is not known to cause changes with sinuses though everyone reacts differently to medication.

It is not one of the reported side effects.

It is likely that the increase in symptoms and change in dose is coincidental and there is another cause for the increase in sinus disease.
The use of anti histamines, decongestants and nasal spray ,if needed, would help.

I hope this helps
