Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a fairly healthy 64 yr old woman. Two weeks ago, I accidentally fell and bent the 3 middle fingers of my left hand backwards as I tried to break my fall. I am a professional musician and actually played piano that same evening at a gig without much pain. Over the following 2 weeks, my palm showed heavy bruising, my fingers have been quite sore, although I can use my hand for the most part. The bruising is gone, but there is a bit of a lump in the center of my palm and my hand is still somewhat sore. Will this heal in time or do you think I tore a ligament that might need repair? I did also play a 4 hour gig last night again, which caused some soreness.
We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, the radiological Scans like X-ray should have been taken for the affected hand and can be soft tissue Inflammation or damage like the involvement of tendons or ligaments.
An orthopaedic surgeon review is a must as with your profession you need fine movements of hands intact so should be prioritized.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
