What Causes Severe Stabbing Pain In Toe After The Surgical Insertion Of Pin?

i just had surgery yesterday. i had a pin put in myleft great toe, today i was on my crutches and i slipped and fell, now my toe is hurting more when it isn't elevated, its like a sharp stabbing pain. is it possile that the pin could be out of place, what should i do?
