What Causes Severe Stomach Pain After Taking Zofran And Prilosec?

My fiancee is having severe stomach pain following some irritation on her skin last night that seemed like an allergy to something (she s never known of any previous allergies). We went to an urgent care center earlier this afternoon and they prescribed Zofran for nausea and Prilosec. She took the medicine 2 hours ago and the pain has worsened some. We re concerned it could be something else, but have no idea what could be causing the pain in the stomach.

Hi,

Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor. It reduces acid production but cannot get rid of the acid already present. In some persons, it can take a few days to kick in because the acid already present needs to decrease.

It may be helpful to use a medication like Dica or tums for the first few days (along with Prilosec).

Probiotics may also help as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
