General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the consent of information written as well as oral explanations are mandatory before any of the surgical procedure even if it is minor or major one, provided the patient is in a state of total consciousness. The discharge from hospital without complete recovery is again a matter against ethics of standard surgical practice.

The paralytic ileus is a known complication post surgical period and does not seem to be a negligence part. However, these are the comments over your description, and the hospital and doctor side has to be justified before commenting further regarding any negligence or malpractice issue. I would request you to discuss the issue with your treating doc rather than remaining in a prejudice stage.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
