What Causes Severe Thirst And Dryness In The Mouth?

I have an incredible thirst. I am drinking about 4 or 5 300 ml bottles of water a day - I don t like hot drinks like tea at the moment and I am not hungry. I did have small bouts of diarrhoea earlier in the week which has stopped but I have a dry feeling in my mouth constantly. I am type 2 diabetic but have never experienced this before.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The fluid loss from the diarrhoea may promote thirst. In addition if your blood sugars are high, this would also cause you to drink more fluids.
If this is the case, then you need to try to control it with altered diet and possibly a change in your medications (should consult your doctor first).

If the sugars are normal then it may be related to environmental factors.

I hope this helps
