What Causes Severe Unbearable Pain In Under Right Ribcage After Coughing Hard?

I coughed really hard and now I have severe pain on my right side right under my rib cage. So severe that I can hardly move. Very painful to cough or if I sneeze and hard to bear down to use rest room. I have had this for over 12 hours now and am wondering if I should go to the er or if you think this is a pulled muscle and I should just rest. Thank you in advance for your advise!

Pulmonologist 's  Response
hi welcome to hcm
i am a pulmonologist and i will try to answer your query
your condition might be a pneumothorax or it might be apulled musce it might be suspected so i would advise you to get a chest xray taken to rule out a pneumothorax and visit a pulmonologist as early a s possible if not relieved by muscle relaxants
hope you get well soon
with warm regards
