What Causes Severe Vaginal Itching?

So this is a little embarrassing, I have had a horriable itch the past couple of days and I thought maybe it was the corse hair on my vagina so I shaved around the irritation, but half way through I got the bright idea to use nair in the hopes that it would speed up the process, bad idea. I am in a lot of pain currently because my vaginia is now burning, yes I removed the nair as soon as it made contact with the sensitive skin and started burning, the irritation looks similar to a sun burn but it is puffed up like the lips are swollen.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The skin is likely further inflamed from contact with the nair but it would resolve.

Treatment would involve the following: (1) use of anti histamine plus an anti inflammatory medication.
Both of these would reduce the inflammation in the area and would be over the counter.
Anti inflammatory medication include- naproxen, ibuprofen or cataflam

Antihistamine- benadryl, claritine, zyrtec

(2)Apply aloe or glycerin to help soothe the skin in the area

It would take a few days for resolution.

I hope this helps
