What Causes Severe Vertigo Despite A Small Brain Tumor Removal?

My mom had her first vertigo episode 3 years ago while she was sleeping. She started shouting really badly so we took her to the hosp the next morning. The doc got her MRI done and the report showed that she had a small tumor in her brain (meningioma). But the doc said it was too small and non cancerous so it wasnt dangerous. But still they dried the tumor through laser treatment. But still my mum s vertigo didnt know. For 3 years she has been having vertigo on and off and since 2 month she was having trouble in walking as she cant balance herself. Now 20 days ago she had a very severe vertigo episode and after that she is on bed. She cant sit and walk without support. We have taken her to emergency and visited so many doctors but the medicines are just not working. We have literally tried everything but nothing is working and her condition is getting worse day by day. Her balance is totally off and she cant even move her head because if she moves her head spins. Plus, she is also having neck pain. We are so worried. Can you please help me out?

Hello,

Judging from your description the most likely origin of the vertigo episodes would be an ear issue, as it typically causes such spinning sensation increasing when moving the head.

Of course, I and my colleagues would dearly like to help you, but it would have been useful if you provided some more details regarding tests she's had and medications she's tried.

Saying to have tried everything is not enough, if you want to avoid us prescribing same ineffective tests or medications she's had you should provide names.

For the moment I can recommend the use of betahistine 48 mg per day (in 2-3 divided doses). If you write again providing more info would gladly consider other recommendations.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
