What Causes Severe Vomiting After Alcohol Consumption?

I drank too much alcohol last night. Today I have been unable to keep any liquid down. I have vomited 5 or 6 times. I tried to eat a little food, but that didn t stay down either. I m worried that I am too dehydrated. I have only urinated once today. My question is, should I go to urgent care for an IV? Or should I just keep trying to stay hydrated on my own. I am a small person and normally can hardly finish one alcoholic beverage. Last night I have 7 drinks. Thanks.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to severe gastritis secondary to a heavy bout of drinking.

As a first line management, you can take an antacids-antiemetic combination like pantoprazole-domperidone for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
