Hello,

The kidney problems can cause severe swelling in the body, legs especially but the face and lower back as well if the patient is laying down. This happens especially if a lot of protein is passed with urine due to problems with kidney.

Having a urinalysis and checking for albumin in urine and checking the total protein level and albumin level in blood will help determine if the kidney is the cause of the swelling.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
