Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I ve been doctors for chest pain and pains under my left rib. I have had blood tests and heart trace done which indicate not cardiac. I m still getting sharp pain under my left ribs into my shoulder and shoulder blades And chest which is causing anxiety and depression.
Dear as described by you ..you have sharp pain that is localised and you very specifically mentioned that it is rib that is hurting . All these features are suggestive of costochondritis this is inflammation of costal cartilage . This will produce continuous sharp localised pain that will increase on applying pressure on that site.you have ECG and some blood work done that are negative this also indicate it's not of cardiac origin . It is definitely of musculoskeletal origin.you need to take pain killers for it.you can apply topical ointment etc also..get an x ray chest done also to rule out any other lung pathology . Plz don't worry about this.this will subside after treatment with painkillers . Hope this will help.
