What Causes Sharp Chest Pain, Racing And Pounding Heart Beat?

I am a 34 year old female and recently started getting sharp chest pain that occurs with a racing, pounding heart beat. The pain occurs with each beat and happens only with activity. I get slightly SOB when it happens. It usually only lasts about a minute and occurs a couple of times a day. I am a cardiac nurse, but am not sure what to make of this.

Welcome to HCM!
Some data is not mentioned like Pulse rate, BP and duration of your present problems.
However I am of the opinion that the chest pain with increased pulse rate is of cardiac origin. You need to have an ECG to find out type of suspected arrhythmia and any ischemic changes.
Since you have exertional shortness of breath it is suggestive of some ischemia or heart dysfunction.
So, consult with a cardiologist for proper evaluation and treatment.
Take care.
