What Causes Sharp Chest Pain While Suffering From High BP?

I am currently taking blood pressure meds and have been on them over a year this morning while cooking for my children I had a sharp pain shoot across my chest so I sat down for an hour and got up and checked my bp and it was and still is 139/96 I need to know if this is a sign of a heart attack or stroke. Thanks.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. High blood pressure can give palpitation and heaviness of heart. But better to have an ECG to rule out cardiac ischemia. If ECG is clear then TMT test also should be done to rule out exercise induced ischemia. Blood pressure should be controlled by proper medication and life style modification. Salt reduction will be helpful to some extent. Cholesterol levels should be checked also.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
