Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sharp Left-sided Chest Pain And Fainting?
Since the beginning of this year I ve had a few fainting spells with no known cause yet. I ve had ECG s, EKG s and blood work but nothing is proven to be wrong. Just a small b12 deficiency. However, just before I fainted everytime I ll have these intense sharp pains in my chest inbetween my sternum and my left breast, the pain is approximately where my right atrium of my heart would be. My cardiologist immediately blamed this all on Vasovagal Syncope and was going to leave it at that. I want a second opinion of what this might all be.
Because all heart check and lab tests come out normal, very likely you are having panic attacks causing the pain and the fainting.
Patients in this case may experience symptoms similar to a heart problem and they get the feeling there is something wrong with the heart while it is the hormones that build during a panic attack that might be causing it. I would recommend you to talk with your doctor related to this and the possible need for medications for panic attacks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
