Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having a sharp pain in the back of my head. Its like a headache but less consistent. It comes and goes. When it comes it hurts bad. I am able too see ok, but I have to stop what I am doing to and hold my head down for it to go away. What would cause this type of pain?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Sharp pain in back of head could be due to some related disorder. Headaches are not sharp and they are distributed over wide area. First of all, I suggest you to consult a physician with a detailed history. A CT scan of the head and neck region may be required to look for any mass lesion in the head and neck region. A high intracranial pressure can also lead to headache, thus, intracranial pressure also needs to be measured to rule out this possibility. I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
