General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
I understand your concern.
I don't know what surgery you had been subjected to.. so I will answer in reference to any foot surgery.
Generally stinging pain at post operative 9 days is a bit unusual . (Usually at this stage.. a bit of itching/ stretching sensation in stitches occurs). Such pain may be a different perception of pain.. which varies from person to person.
Pain may indicate some inflammation/ infection of operation wound.. may be following ice pack to foot with dribbling of water into the bandaged wound./ Not taking post operative medicines as directed/ low resistance / condition like uncontrolled diabetes.
with the tight bandaging of surgical wound & also ice packs you have been using, cold fingers are expected. You must have been told to move the fingers in post operative period.. this helps in maintaining blood supply to the fingers.
Tomorrow you are going for stitch removal.. every thing will be evident at that time & doctor will give you medicines to control your pain.
Thanks,
I find this answer helpful
