What Causes Sharp Pain In Anus Of A Child During Bowel Movement?
My 5 year old son has been complaining that he feels a sharp pain when he goes poop. Stools are fairly soft and he is fairly regular (pooping every other day). He also has a slight rash on his bum resembling little pimples. This rash was there a few months ago and disappeared with use of Sudocream but is now back. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, the pain in children while passing stools is usually due to fissures which remains unnoticed for long time. Also, they can develop in children anytime even with soft stools or even loose motions. Please give the child 10ml of liquid paraffin at night after food for 10-15 days. Also, if the rash which you are mentioning is in the perianal region, you can apply zinc oxide paste around the anal opening over the rash for early healing.
