What Causes Sharp Pain In Ear After Having Root Canal?

I had two root canals last week. When the first injection was made near the TM joint for the molar work a sharp pain ran into my Right ear and has been noticable since. I assume this will gradually dissapear. But for now it is QUITE uncomfortable. Was a nerve compromised?
