What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Calf Muscle?

Hi, I flew home on Monday from Abu Dhabi to Scotland. I woke up with sharp pain in my left calf....its still sore. Im 35, female. Dont smoke or drink.im fit....I am on contraceptive pill, cilest. Is DVT a possibility? I never see the doctor....is it advisable to get it checked?

Hello, thanks for writing in.
Prolonged period of reduced mobility resulting in reduced calf muscle contraction & stagnation of blood as well as being on the contraceptive pill, are both considered risk factors for DVT.
However the calf pain can also be due to muscular cause from sitting for a long time.
I would suggest you to not ignore the pain and consult a doctor who can examine your leg for swelling and give a prescription for pain relief.
If there is a doubt a Venous Doppler of the leg would be helpful.
