What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Sided Abdomen Post Hysterectomy?
I had a botched c-section that lead to a hysterectomy on July 29th, 2014. However, I still have my left ovary. My first day back to work I started having a sharp, stabbing pain in my left side. I m a cashier at Lowe s so I didn t do any heavy lifting. It was time for my break. So I went to the restroom and discovered blood in my underwear. So now a few times a month I ll still get the stabbing, sharp pain but no blood or spotting. ?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Hysterectomy means the removal of the uterus. There is no chance of vaginal bleeding after removal of the uterus. You have sharp pain I left the side of the abdomen with retained ovary too.
This needs immediate evaluation & detailed check up &investigations to exclude certain serious conditions.
This will relieve you of tension or if diagnosed treatment would help cure early. Do not foment or massage for pain in the abdomen. Please consult a gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
