What Causes Sharp Pain In The Abdomen After Appendix Removal?

Hi I had my appendix removed on Wednesday last week via key hole surgery. Feeling great today however getting pain similar to being constipated but more sharp shooting pains. Moving my bowls twice a day and they are very dark. Is this normal? Have a dr appointment tomorrow.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
No this is not normal.
Clay colored stool (very dark bowel) with increase in frequency with sharp shooting abdominal pain are more suggestive of bleeding in the surgical site.
Since you had recent abdominal surgery, possibility of bleeding from intestine is more.
So better to consult your treating surgeon and get done clinical examination of abdomen, CT scan and stool microscopic examination.
If bleeding is there then you will need revision surgery.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
