What Causes Sharp Pain In The Back After Suffering From Sore Throat?

Had a sore throat & an earache several days ago which have both disappeared but continue to have sharp stabbing pains in the back of the head, almost seems as though head is bruised now. Sharp pains aren t as frequent but still have them numerous times during the day.

Hello,

The pains you describe might be due to the muscular origin. You will need to take ibuprofen 600 mg every 6 hours after food and paracetamol together with it. Applying local warm compresses may help as well.

If you do not notice any improvement in 2-3 days or you notice any worsening in the pain intensity or any new symptoms, please see your doctor.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
