What Causes Sharp Pain In The Left Hip?

So my coach thinks I have a hip flexor. When I jog/run or even walk sometimes I have a sharp pain in my left hip. When I laugh ,sneeze or cough it sends a pain to my hip. It hurts more if I kick the soccer ball with my right foot rather then my left foot.I have no stretches that really works. What do u thinks wrong? And how do I treat it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic pain like sciatica. However, we have to rule out other causes like nerve compression and prolapsed disc.
As first-line management, you can take drugs like gabapentin for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
