What Causes Sharp Pain In The Legs Despite Taking Doxycycline For Cellulitis?

My husband, 81 yrs, had cellulitis of legs - he has sharp needle pain, sometimes itching. He has been put on doxcyclene 100mg 2 x for 10 days but it does not seem to be helping. Before being diagnosed with this, he had peripheral neuropathy & was put on Lyrica & Hydrocodene 5mg with 325mg tylenol - he is stilling this as well - He wakes up cannot sleep - It will calm down for about 5 hrs, then start up again - what can I do to help?
