What Causes Sharp Pain In The Lower Back And The Abdomen?

I m having sharp pain in my lower back, pelvis, and abdominal area. The pain even runs down both of my legs. This has been going on for about three months and mostly right before I get my period. Along with this, I have bloating, sometimes diarrhea, and hot flashes. To ease my pain, I ve been taking over the counter medicine and applying heat. I ve only had one pregnancy, which was fourteen years ago. Is it possible I could have endometriosis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are many cause related to your symptoms. So, I would recommend to do a stool test, a complete blood count and an abdominal ultrasound for further evaluation. Meanwhile, I suggest using over the counter medications such as Imodium to treat diarrhea. I also suggest using daily probiotics and drink liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
