Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sharp Pain In The Lower Stomach On The Right Side?
I have sharp pain in my right lower stomach, near my hip. I have had for 2 months, it comes and goes. I have had a pelvic and stomach ultrasound, cat scan, pelvic exam, blood work and a colonoscopy all normal. What could it be. All organs were normal!
Because all the tests and examinations seem to be normal there are a couple of things I am considering as a possible cause of your pain. One would be if you do have some constipation. In this case taking some extra fiber supplements daily and also taking movicol and drinking plenty might be helpful. The other possible cause is irritable bowel syndrome which is a very common cause of abdominal pain and in this case some buscopan can be tried to help with the pain.
Other tests that I might recommend is also stool for ova and parasite and stool antigen for giardia to rule out parasites as possible cause of pain as I didn't see you had these done in the tests you mention.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
