What Causes Sharp Pain Long After Recovering From Rupture Of Achilles Tendon?

Hi! I had a surgery 4 years ago with a full rupture of my achilles tendon. It has been a process of recovery but in general I have been doing well. For the past week I have been walking a lot on an uneven terrain in some cool and wet weather and yesterday I felt a sharp pain in my tendon and it has been sensitive and different. I feel concerned. Can you suggest what it might be? Perhaps some of the scar tissue tore? Thank you so much.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can be due to multiple reasons including cardiac, neurological, or endocrine causes for dizziness so EKG as well as echo-cardiogram and hemoglobin and sugar levels as well as thyroid profile and electrolyte imbalance should also be ruled out. For fall followed by sciatic nerve pain should be treated with analgesic like acetaminophen and if persists may need neurosurgical review.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
