What Causes Sharp Pain On Left Side Of Ribcage Area?
Hi I have been experiencing excruciating pain on my left side (more accurately my ribcage area) The pain occurs about twice (on average) monthly and the pain increases when I breathe. Additionally sometimes I have problems breathing normally at night (though this may occur during the day ) Sometimes I feel as if I am suffocating. Any suggestions to my condition and treatment options ?
Hi welcome to HCM I understand your query and concern. Your symptoms are suggestive of muscular strain.A CT scan helps to evaluate any organic lung pathology. In case of serious breathing difficulty i advise you take salbutamol nebulisation.Muscle relaxants like baclofen will be helpful to relieve the spasms. In case if the CT scan is found out to be normal, nothing needs to be done further and a cause of musculoskeletal origin will be considered.Consult your chest physician at the earliest.Post your further queries if any. Thank you.
