What Causes Sharp Pain On Right Side Of Abdomen While Suffering From Cough?

Hi, I ve had a cough for around 2 weeks. In the last 24 hours I ve started getting a really sharp pain in my right side around the kidney area. The pain is unbearable and is not easing with paracetamol. I m currently a medical student and living away from home so have only just moved and have not yet registered with a GP. There s a walk in centre at the Manchester Royal infirmary and I m not sure whether I should get it checked out? Thanks

Hi,
From history it seems that due to spasmodic cough there might be having muscle strain of back muscles giving rise this problem.
There is another possibility of having pleuritic pain due to having cough since long and then it might require some investigations like x-ray chest PA view and complete blood checking like TC, DC, ESR etc.
Consult walk in clinic and get examined.
Ok and take care.
