What Causes Sharp Pain On The Left Side Of The Head?

I m a 54 year old female, physically active (exercise daily and take vitamin supplements), don t smoke and rarely drink (maybe one margarita a month). I live in Northeast Florida, since 2016, moved from Idaho. I ve been experiencing sharp, sporatic pain on the left part of my head, right above my ear but not in my ear. It s extremely painful, coming every 30 seconds or so. I ve never experienced this before.

Hi,

Most probably it’s a non-specific headache and will settle by itself. Other possibilities are a migraine and cluster headache.

As the first line of management, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Diclofenac for symptomatic relief.

If a headache persists better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
