What Causes Sharp Pain Under The Ribs When In Supine Position?
Hi, I get pain in my chest to under right rib cage, sometimes feel like the wind is knocked out of me, had my gallbladder removed 2 years ago...never been the same. I also had an upper and lower scope which was fine...its especially worse at night when lying down.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain in the chest region under rib cage which increases while lying down is ost probably musculoskeletal in origin. Chest pain can occur due to lesions of lung, pleural pain or musculoskeletal pain. A X-ray of chest may be done to rule out any lesion in the lung. Pleural pain is usually sharp in nature. Musculoskeletal pain is related to posture there is possibility of musculoskeletal pain. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment and prescription of pain killer and muscle relaxant.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
