Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I had gastroscopy last week and in the last few days I have pain in my chest under my ribs, sometimes very sharp and itcy from inside. First I thought it is the usual pain on the right hand side of my body but this is under my ribs and does not go away even if I take Nexium. It has been going on already for a week. I would appreciate your answer, thank you. Judit Michel
Hello and welcome to HCM, Sharp pain below the ribs is due to involvement of pleura by some disease process. Gastroscopy is unlikely to cause sharp pain under the ribs. I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. A X-ray chest and ultrasound chest will be the first line investigations to look for the cause of sharp pain below the ribs. Appropriate management can be planned after clinical assessment and relevant investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
