What Causes Sharp Pain Under The Right Breast In An Elderly Person?
I m 74 and in good health. I was getting out of a recliner and a sharp pain occurred just under my right breast. Sleeping prone is very difficult but I finally got to sleep last night. This morning the symptoms continue and are in a small spot on my upper right rib cage. I ve been taking a lot of Motrin to keep the pain under control. Is it possible I somehow broke a rib or pulled a muscle?
Your symptoms suggestive of musculoskeletal pain. It can be muscle strain or rib inflammation. You can be prescribed ibuprofen like an anti-inflammatory drug for five days.
A hot compress can be applied over the affected part. Avoid strenuous activities and take rest. If improvement not seen in five days than the local part X-ray should be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
