What Causes Sharp Pain Under The Right Breast?

Following an accidental slip while reaching in the dryer, I hit the edge of the dryer door. I immediately felt a sharp stab right under my right breast. I am figuring I have bruised a rib??? I don t whether to home treat and see if pain improves or go to ER. I don t think they can really do anything to help. What do you think?

Hello,
Its likely due to damage to musculoskeletal tissue. There must have been some trauma to ribs and soft tissues surrounding it. Its recommended once to have chest X ray just to rule out fracture of the rib especially if trauma and pain is severe.
You should have hot water fomentation, diclofenac gel or spray for local application two times a day and tab Ibuprofen 400 mg whenever needed upto three times a day for pain along with some antacids like tab Pantoprazole 40 mg before breakfast once a day. This should resolve in 3-4 days.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
