What Causes Sharp Pains Around The Diaphragm?

I am having sharp pains on my left side high up at about the level of the diaphragm. If I take a deep breath it is worse. I was diagnosed with diverticulosis and gall stones. Could this be related? I ve never had any symptoms. No vomiting or diarrhea.

Hi,

It is very unlikely the pain you have is related to gall stones because pain from gallbladder is generally in the right upper area of the tummy and not in the left area.
Diverticulosis might cause pain in the left side of the abdomen so taking some fiber (metamucil or benefiber) and making sure you drink plenty might be helpful.
On the other hand very likely your pain is mostly muscular and and having some paracetamol and ibuprofen might be advised as well.

If the above treatment (fiber supplement and pain killers) are not helping enough, you will need to see your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
