What Causes Sharp Pains In My Cervix, cramping In 36 Week Pregnancy?

im 36 weeks pregnant and im getting a sharp pain in my cervix when i walk, lay down, and sit. 2 weeks ago i asked my gynecologist and he said the baby was on my nerve. then last week i was 1cm dilated. ive been feeling really weird. stronger and longer bh with menstrual like cramping, loss of appetite and energy, is this sharp pain due to dilation and effacement or really the baby on a nerve?

Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) This could be labour pain or prelabour pain due to delivery preparatory changes in cervix.

2) The other possibility is normal physiological braxton hicks contractions.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Regards,
Dr. Mahesh Koregol
