What Causes Sharp Right-sided Stomach Pain And Nausea?

For the last 12 hours, I have been experiencing stomach pain...not a sharp pain but more a hurt. It does not hurt in my lower right side....but is generalized. When I stand it sometimes moves to my back and I feel nauseated. I am a 66 year old female. I was cleared of heart related problems several months ago, but that still comes to mind. My blood pressure is up somewhat ...149/78. I do take mess for that. Should I get this checked right away or see if it runs its course?

Hello Dear. You are probably having gastritis or Acid peptic disease (APD).

Treatment for gastritis usually involves:
•     Taking antacids and other drugs (such as proton pump inhibitors or H-2 blockers) to reduce stomach acid
•     Avoiding hot and spicy foods
•     For gastritis caused by H. pyloriinfection, your doctor will prescribe a regimen of several antibiotics plus an acid blocking drug (used for heartburn)
•     If the gastritis is caused by pernicious anemia, B12 vitamin shots will be given.
•     Eliminating irritating foods from your diet such as lactose from dairy or gluten from wheat
Once the underlying problem disappears, the gastritis usually does, too.
You should talk to your doctor before stopping any medicine or starting any gastritis treatment on your own.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
