What Causes Sharp Shooting Pain In The Thighs?

I fell on my porch about 4 years ago and got a terrible bruise and there was quite a bit of swelling.. (the swelling never went away and I have a dent) now 4 years later I ve gone back to work and I m having some problems. My thighs feel numb on the front and on the sides but they ache at the same time..sometimes I experience sharp pains shooting down my thighs and they are tender to the touch. I have been trying stretches and taking inflammatories but it has been going on for over 2 months and I feel like the pain is not letting up. Any ideas? Thank you so much..

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
It seems the incidence 4 years past is not related to your prwsent complaints . (All these years being un symptomatic)
The pain numbness &occasional shooting pain in leg seem to be a symptom of spinal nerve irritation/compression at vertebral level.
The treatment would be specific physiotherapy(spinal extension exercises/avoiding forword bending) &medicines after diagnosis of the cause. (After MRI lumber spine)
Consult an orthopedic doctor for specific advise.
Thanks.
