Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having this sharp pain from time to time where my heart would be. It happens almost exclusively in the evenings. It happens 2 to 3 times a week with about 2 or 3 attacks happening within half an hour of each other. It feels like a gas bubble passing by my heart, with a sharp stabbing pain but it leaves almost as quickly as it came. Is it possible for gas to be causing all this?
Gas would not normally cause pain in this area, it can occur in the center of the chest, at the site of the esophagus but not normally to the side.
It is understandable to be concerned about chest pain. The pain is not likely related to the heart, because it would not occur mainly in one part of the day.
Heart related disease tend to occur with activity because this is the time that the heart works the most. This means that during times when you are active (not at rest sitting or lying down), your heart would act up.
It is possible that it may be neuralgia, nerve related pain.
This can be due to different possible causes and may be temporary or permanent.
I hope this helps
