What Causes Sharp Stabbing Pain In The Lower Left Abdomen?

I am having sharp pain in the lower left side about where the ovary is and this pain has been ongoing for three days. It is a sharp stabbing pain. I have tried heat, ice, pain relievers. I did have a partial hyster but they left the ovaries in. I also have IBS but it does not seem to be that pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka answering your query.

Going by your condition , it is important that you get an ultrasound abdomen and pelvis done at the earliest so that the cause of pain can be found out (to rule out any ovary pathology like cysts).

If i was your treating physician i would recommend Tablet Pantoprazole 40mg half an hour before breakfast to reduce the pain if it is due to gastric problems.

Antispasmodics like Combination of Mefenamic acid and Dicyclomine shall help relieve the pain.

Hope this answered your query.
Regards ,
Dr.Riyanka
